Hi

I'm new in Abaqus and I want to use it to analize an UAV aircraft fuselage during impact, so I need to introduce the geometry in the Abaqus.

I already have the geometry in Solidworks and tried to export it to Abaqus, but some surfaces gone wrong and some errors appeared.

I would aprecciate any sugestions.

Thanks
Ivo Pires

What CAD file format are you using to transfer your model? There is a direct SolidWorks import capability available as an extra-cost option, but it's not clear from your message whether you have that. Another option would be using the paid option for Parasolid file import into Abaqus CAE.

When you say that some surfaces have gone wrong, can you be more specific? I have, for example, occasionally seen solid CAD geometry for which surfaces belonging to a solid fail to import. Are you seeing something like that?

Try saving in different standard formats from Solid work and export into
Abaqus.

Abaqus has an interface available through support page for geometry transfer from Solidworks.

hi,
Catia or ProEngineer may suitable for your problem. If your problem just the simple one, you may import 2D .DXF into ABAQUS/CEA.

Take a look at this video file, Its maybe helpful to you

Hope its help

Hi,

Better explaining my situation:
-I've Abaqus version 6.7-1, and I've the parasolid import tool.
-I tried to export it as IGES and as Parasolid and the problems are quite the same.
-I attached some pictures in this e-mail (fig1 and fig2 have the geometry problems; parasolid.png has the warning that happear when I import it to Abaqus).

Thanks
Pires
