[Abaqus] Kinematic Coupling

Hello all,

I am currently modeling a steel beam-to-column connection in CAE. In the model, U1 and U2 displacements at the end of the RHS beam should be coupled to the top of the lower column segment (see attached snapshot). I used "Kinematic" coupling (with DOF:U1 and U2) to create this constraint as it is the only coupling that allows to specify DOFs. However, when I am analyzing the model (static analysis), I am getting the following warning which prevents activating the constraints. Note that there is no other constraint/boundary condition at control point and slave region.

"Whenever a translation (rotation) dof at a node is constrained by a
kinematic coupling definition the translation (rotation) dofs for that node
cannot be included in any other constraint including mpcs, rigid bodies,
etc.

MPCS (EXTERNAL or INTERNAL, including those generated from rigid body
definitions), KINEMATIC COUPLINGS, AND/OR EQUATIONS WILL ACTIVATE
ADDITIONAL DEGREES OF FREEDOM"

Is there any way to get around this? any help would be greatly appreciated.

Keeping aside the warning for a moment, how do you know the constraint is NOT active?
