Python script, how to run abaqus jobs in a loop

Is there a way for to submit a job in python and then wait till the
job is done before executing the next line of code. My example is below:

os.system ( "call abq653 job=test.inp" )

# these lines should only execute after the above job is done

open_odb()
update_input_deck()

Right now, my script is immeadietely executing these lines after the
job is submitted, not after it is done.

If you are in Windows, then go to the ABAQUS command window and do Start/?

This gives you an explantion of the command and its paramaters. Among
these WAIT may be what you look for.

waitForCompletion(...)
